Winter Valeting
It’s been a bit of a nightmare valeting in December, with -10 to -20 temperatures. I have had my chemicals freeze and 6 inch of water frozen in my tank, so it’s not been the best month I have had valeting. We have had the coldest weather for over 100 years. In the last 100 years, we have experienced five colder months - January 1940, February 1947, January 1963, February 1963 and February 1986. Health and Safety is imperative and even more so during the winter months, especially when the ground is freezing cold as the water we apply freezes on the ground. We carry rock salt so we do not leave a premise hazardous. One of our main findings in your cars are the floor mats, with snow on the ground which is carried into your car; it has melted from your footwear into your mats which has not had the chance to dry out. This has caused in some cases, soaking wet carpets, as some of the cheaper car mats are not rubber backed so the water soaks through into your carpets. Cheap mats in your car may look good at first but once they have had some wear and tear, their bad quality shows, which may lead to rotting your carpets. Grit|Salt on the road which helps us get around can damage your paintwork unless you have protected your vehicle, take your car/vehicle to your local jet wash and give it a good wash down and wax it if you can, this will protect your car/vehicle through our winter weather. At least the weather has picked up in January 2011, the sun is getting closer every passing day and with the warmer temperatures valeting has become easier. When the suns out it makes you feel better and I have already been in my t - shirt on a couple of occasions so summer in on the way. Thanks for reading and I will be waffling again next month. |
